Equipment
Finder: Finders are used to find Ores/enmatters in the ground. The higher your finding skill the better finder you can use efficiently. Better finders will find materials deeper in the planet. I would not suggest using a strong finder until you have the skill level required to efficiently use it. You can view our guide on playing economically to learn more.
Excavator: Once you find your materials you need to extract them for this you will need an excavator. The skill for the excavator is called mining, and just like the finder the higher the skill level the better excavator you can use efficiently. Stronger excavators extract materials from a claim faster. Once again our guide on efficient item usage will help with choosing an excavator.
Probes: Depending on your finder and the settings you use different amounts of probes are used in a drop. Finders for low levels use up to 3 probes per drop where finders for higher levels use up to 30 probes per drop.
Common finder probe usage:
Only Ores(20 probes/drop)
Only Enmatter(10 probes/drop)
Both(30 probes/drop)
Heal: Although it is not required i would strongly suggest something to heal yourself from time to time. Especially if you choose to mine without an aircraft vehicle. A simple vivo or herb box will do. This can also be done with a Regeneration chip if you prefer Mindforce. View our guide on healing to learn more.
Armor: You will be attacked and if you are mining in an area with strong enemies trying to attack you you will need armor. View our guide on choosing your armor to learn more.
Refiner(Optional): A refiner is not required but can be handy from time to time. The idea here is refine your ores/enmatters when you get them.
Vehicle(Optional): A vehicle is not required but strongly suggested. Sliepnir Mk1 is my favorite for this task. Since it flies you can mine in areas that have mobs much stronger than you. If you start to get attacked just hop in and lift off and they cant attack you. The Sleipnir is also affordable and one of the most fuel efficient aircraft.
Attachments(Optional)
Amps: Crafted tools that attach to your finder. These have the benifit of increasing the range of the finder, and the size of the deposits you find. Higher level amps have greater range. However these are limited (L) items, and will not last long. While the 101 amps average about 50 drops a run, the more power amp you go with the fewer uses you will get from the amp.
Enhancers: another crafted tool, which you can attach to your finder. These work in similar fashion to amps, but the finder has to be of the teir level for the enhancer to work. You can either use enhancers to increase your depth or your range.
Helper Applications(Optional)
Little Big Mining Log (LBML): A desktop application that integrates with your chat log and onscreen radar from entropia universe. It essentially maps your drops and claims. This can be helpful in avoiding overlapping radius's from multiple drops. Also depending on what you find (Ore or Enmatter) it will mark the map with different colors. You can view our guide on setting up and using LBML if you would like to learn more.
Start mining
OK so now that you have everything set up, your ready to start mining.
Equip the finder in your inventory, then the mining interface comes up. You can choose to mine only ore, only enmatter, or both at once.
When you have selected the materials to mine for, "use" the finder. A probe will appear then dig into the ground. After a few seconds, you will either get a 'No Resource Found' message, or your finder will activate and display that you have found a claim.
When you find something, the display will inform you where it is, what you found, and the approximate size of the find. You will also be given a claim in your inventory so if you don't excavate it right away you may come back later. This can be helpful when doing many drops, just run in line and drop probes, when your finished dropping run back with your excavator and grab em all. Just remember where you are in case you die.
It is possible when using both ore/enmatter to find 2 claims in one drop.
2 Mining Styles
Conservative mining: The best way to keep a steady income is to mine specific places on the various planets. This will usually give you back somewhere between 75% and 90% in Trade Terminal (TT) value of the bombs you have used to mine.
Provided you can sell the minerals to merchants or directly to crafters for a markup of about 120% you will earn on mining.
This is however a very slow way of mining and you should expect to loose money to begin with, simply by probing the different planets for decent mining spots.
Go big or go home: If you are a more aggressive miner, or would like to try for the jackpot, you can try to mine on one of the hots
pots where several of the big mineral finds inside Entropia Universe occurs every day.
Typically there is two areas inside Entropia Universe for finding big mineral finds on a regular basis.
F.O.M.A.
HELL
Mining both of those places are often done by attaching various kinds of mining amplifiers (Mining amps) to your mining finders which will increase the amount of minerals found.
However, this will also increase the cost of placing bombs. It is ill-adviced to regularly mine with amps on the various planets. If you wanna amp up, go to F.O.M.A or HELL.
Knowing the size of a claim and how long a claim is active is very helpful, you don't want them to time out and dissapear.
