Playing economically is probably the most important thing in the game if you don't want to break your bank. This all depends on using the proper equipment for your skill level. This guide will show you how to determine which items to use to optimize your returns.
Weapons
Notice In the Item info picture below notice the "Damage interval / max:" it says 4.4-8.8 / 4.5-9.0. The two values on the left 4.4-8.8 is the range of damage you will hit with that item at your current skill level. This number increases as your skill level does.
The two values on the right 4.5-9.0 is the range of damage you will hit after your skill is high enough to have "maxed it out" Since ammo burn does not change you use 223 ammo no matter your damage is. So you would want to hit 4.5-9.0 instead of 3.8-7.6 right?
When both numbers are the same (4.5-9.0 / 4.5-9.0). You are using the item with the highest efficiency.
You can also see the same applies to Shots per minute, Range, Hit(Accuracy), and Critical Hit.
Other Tools and Weapons
You can see the same applies to most items
Finders - Search depth for Ores / Search depth for Enmatter/ uses per minute
Excavators - Efficiency Ores / Efficiency Enmatter / Uses per minute
Melee weapons - Damage / Range / Hit(Accuracy) / Critical Hit
Recommended Skill Levels and Skill Boosts
In this section i would like to talk about the skill boosts you get from some items.
You will notice there is a recommended level underlined. You will also notice that my level in that skill is 6. If you look at the bottom image you will see i do not have this item "maxed out". How can this be?
The recommended level is not the level required to "max out" the item. It is the recommended level to start using the item to obtain the skill boost from a "learning period". However once the item is maxed out the option for "Learning Period Damage" and "Learning Period Hit" will change from yes to no and you will no longer receive a skill boost from that item.
You might also notice that the axe in the above image. it has no "Learning Period" the maximum high end damage is unlocked but the minimum damage can increase with level. Ocassionally you will find items similar to the axe.
In the end some say the skill boost is worth it and some say its not.. that is up to you to decide.
Note: If you are not currently a disciple (if you don't have a mentor) you can sell skills please do not forget to factor this when evaluating an items efficiency. If you would like to know more about skills you may check our guide on Skill Implant Chips.
